What Do Bloggers Write About?

After deciding to start a blog and getting your site set up, the next question to ask is, “What do bloggers write about?”

What are you passionate about?  What makes you mad?  What makes you happy?  If you could do ONE thing that would make the world a better place, what would it be?

You should write about THAT.

For me, my passionate is health and wellness.  (Duh.  I’m a doctor.)  For the last year and a half I’ve written (pretty much nonstop, LOL!) about health and medical topics, with brief forays into current events and other topics that caught my attention.

Recently I’ve started writing about two other topics that are passions of mine – blogging and network marketing / entrepreneurship.  I’ve spent a lot of time over the last two years or so learning everything I can get ahold of on these two topics.

You know what they say – you don’t really know something until you can teach it to someone else!

But back to the topic:  What do bloggers write about?

1.  Their passions

If you have something you are always reading about and researching, you’ve got tremendous material for blog posts.  Every time you read something new, like a new book or article or news report, if you can distill it down to 3-4 bullet points, that’s a blog post!

There are plenty of people out there that are passionate about the same things that turn you on.  Writing about this super-important topic is a great way to find and connect with them.  Do you Google your favorite topic?  So do they.  If you have a “Contact Me” tab on your blog (like mine) it’s an easy way for them to get in touch with you.

2.  Their skills

Are you good at something?  Do you love to cook, to garden, to play a musical instrument, to write?  There are those who want to know how to do it too!  Writing a blog is a wonderful way to be available to those who want to be learn about the thing that you do so well.

Writing how-to blogs is a great way to find others who are interested in doing the same things you’re interested in.

QUESTION:  Think back to the things you have done every day for the last week.  Is there anything you did regularly that was different from everyone else?  What was it?  What is your hobby, the thing that you spend money on that others might think was frivolous but makes YOU happy?  What makes you mad?  Makes you want to write your congressman?  Tell me below 🙂
